MLM Business Opportunity ? What You Should Know About This Type Of Marketing Tool

MLM business opportunities are perhaps among the most controversial moneymakers out there. It is somewhat akin to an illegitimate marketing practice called pyramiding and is often criticized for using cult-like marketing practices, for emphasizing recruitment over generation of sales, and exaggerated compensation schemes.

Despite all these criticisms, an MLM business opportunity is still an opportunity for creating money and legitimate at that. Take note that not all MLM businesses are bad. There are plenty of MLM businesses that are not only licensed to operate in the United States, but are financially rewarding as well.

So what is MLM?

MLM is a concept that was developed during the 80s and has become among the fastest growing type of business since. It is not an industry though. It is merely a marketing method that allows a faster movement of product from one point to another. Hence the name.

This type of marketing works by purchasing products at wholesale prices then consuming or selling them. Alongside the profit from selling the products, the purchaser earns through the sale of her recruits.

As is often the case, there is percentage for every item sold or moved and every person recruited for the original purchaser. In the end, passive income is created and the sale of the entire organization you have formed goes back to you.

As a marketing tool, this allows for quicker movement of products, lesser expense on advertisements, and more revenue for the company. For the affiliates participating in it, it provides a continuous source of income. The continuity of income, though, depends on how solid the organization is.

Is it MLM or is it a pyramid scheme?

Despite the frequent confusion between MLM and pyramiding, the two are actually not the same. In MLM, there are products involved. These are moved from one tier of the organization to another or from the organization to consumers who are not parts of the organization.

In pyramiding, however, there is little to no product involved. The focus is on the recruitment of individual affiliates. In short, the focus on the commission that may be had from each person recruited.

There’s the difference. MLM is a marketing tool that expands the market base of the product while pyramiding is nothing short of scamming.

What can be had from an MLM business opportunity?

Compensation, for one. Because the distribution of products is passed by the company to direct retailers, some costs have been cut off and the company maximizes its revenue. The good thing about this is that the company compensates each distributor or affiliate and ‘shares’ the extra revenue to them through handsome commissions.

On top of this, each retailer also gets the full support of the company from the product down to recruitment and training of new recruits.

As someone participating in an MLM business opportunity, you create money by selling the MLM products. You also get commission from recruiting new members into the organization. apart from these, you also get a percentage on the generated income of the distributors you have recruited.

The sad reality is, while an MLM business opportunity offers real opportunity for generating income, there are plenty of fraudulent companies and organizations out there that uses this scheme. So beware.
