I was reading one of my marketing books lately and came across some interesting facts on how similar finding new businesses is like “looking for a girl friend or boy friend” strategy.
We have in our mind a certain type of man or woman in our mind, we visualize it, create an image of the person character. Isn’t that similar to how when we look for a new customer. We create or segment the market of where the potential customers are coming from, what are their background, buying power, habits and so on and so forth. We do the same with either business or our relationship with others. Well, you can argue with me whether it’s healthy or not. But, at the end. it’s all about your bottom line. Does the customers that you work with makes you happy or they make you cringe in pain? Should you continue working with them or tell them the truth? I guess most relationships that we have in terms of our private “relationship” aka. marriage or dating relationships are similar to having a business relationship with others.
Have a think on how you segment your group. Do we carefully have a thought process on how we do our marketing?
By gender?
By race?
By religion?
By buying power?
By pricing or even interest?
We create that mindset of how we are going to attract our customers. Like the law of attraction. What makes your company more attractive than the others?
